The validation and certification of skills play a primary role in European development strategies. Within the framework of Objective 4 of the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development, which envisions extending the rights to quality education for all, particular attention is given to increasing the dissemination of technical and professional skills for labour inclusion.
The development of knowledge, professional qualifications, and formal and informal skills is an essential prerequisite for fostering economic growth and employment, as well as for improving entry and progression in the labour market.
The development of professional skills must be accompanied by systems that enhance their recognition, validation, and certification. This is necessary to enable individuals to value and utilize their skills at the regional, national, and European levels.
