The Laboratory on Sustainability, in its third edition in 2023, provides opportunities for dialogue to highlight experiences and best practices concerning Sustainable and inclusive Development of cities and territories.
The 17 goals of the UN Agenda 2030 represent a challenging yet unavoidable task for our communities. Current events are making it increasingly evident that the pursuit of these goals is not merely idealistic but rather closely intertwined with concrete aspects directly linked to societal development and well-being.
The municipality can play an active role, as several virtuous experiences demonstrate, for example, in the case of Renewable Energy Communities. Not to mention the strategic contribution that the progressive improvement of public and private building stock must provide.
The paradigm shift also concerns the areas of sustainable mobility and the development of the circular economy. But what are the existing technological experiences and opportunities at different intervention levels today? What strategies have been identified at the regional, national, and European levels?
In this context, local administrations can certainly play an active and proactive role, which, however, cannot overlook the involvement of territorial stakeholders. Businesses, associations, and citizens must be involved in a co-design and implementation process for sustainable cities.
The Laboratory unfolds through operational meetings supported by experts, with moments of study and open dialogue among local administrators, public officials, sector experts, and innovative companies.
This initiative will delve into technological and organizational areas, collaboration opportunities between entities, data usage for sustainability policy planning, access to funding, best practices, innovative communication methods, and involvement of territorial stakeholders, all strategic topics for the development of innovation in local public administration.
